    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at azaleamedspatn@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

    Definition:

PRP is a concentration of platelets derived from your own blood. Platelets contain growth factors that help stimulate healing and regeneration in tissues.

    How it’s made:

A small sample of blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma rich in platelets from the rest of the blood components.

    Uses in aesthetics:

    • Skin rejuvenation (improves texture, tone, and elasticity)
    • Hair restoration (stimulates hair growth)
    • Reducing wrinkles and fine lines
    • Enhancing healing after cosmetic procedures

    Procedure:

Usually injected or applied topically with microneedling for better absorption.

    Benefits:

Natural, uses your own blood (low risk of allergic reaction), promotes collagen production, improves skin quality.

    Definition:

PRF is a newer generation of platelet concentrate, also derived from your own blood but with a slightly different processing method.

    How it’s made:

Blood is spun at a lower speed and without anticoagulants, resulting in a fibrin matrix that traps platelets and white blood cells.

    Uses in aesthetics and medicine:

    • Similar to PRP but with longer-lasting effects due to the fibrin matrix
    • Often used in facial rejuvenation, wound healing, dental surgeries, and hair restoration

    Procedure:

Can be injected or placed as a membrane, depending on treatment.

    Benefits:

Slower release of growth factors for sustained healing, contains white blood cells that help fight infection and inflammation, often considered more natural and effective in tissue regeneration than PRP.

    Blood Disorders

    • People with bleeding disorders (like hemophilia) or platelet dysfunction may not be suitable because PRP/PRF rely on healthy platelets.

    Active Infection or Inflammation

    • Having an active infection (skin or systemic) or active inflammation in the treatment area is a contraindication until resolved.

    Cancer or History of Cancer

    • Individuals undergoing cancer treatment or with a recent history of cancer are typically advised to avoid PRP/PRF, as growth factors could potentially stimulate tumor growth.

    Pregnancy or Breastfeeding

    • Due to limited research, these treatments are usually not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

    Autoimmune Diseases or Immunosuppressive Conditions

    • People with autoimmune diseases or on immunosuppressive medications may have altered healing responses or risks.

Severe Anemia or Low Platelet Count

    • Since PRP/PRF use platelets from your own blood, very low platelet counts or anemia can make the procedure ineffective or unsafe.

Use of Blood Thinners or Certain Medications

    • Blood-thinning medications (like warfarin, aspirin) can interfere with blood clotting and platelet function, potentially affecting results.

Poor Overall Health or Uncontrolled Chronic Conditions

    • Uncontrolled diabetes, heart conditions, or other systemic illnesses may impact healing and candidac
